Kinetic Gears

Kinetic Gears, are custom designed using 3d design software.  Components are then fabricated using various methods such as laser cutting and 3d printing. Carpentry skills are also employed in order to fabricate the case

One full revolution of the gears takes approximately one minute which  gives the effect of a slow mixing of the colors from small to big squares.  Under control of a microcontroller, the unit will activate once per specified time period, such as once every half hour and will spin for a quarter of the total cycle, which may take up to two hours. The gears will then spin continuously through a complete cycle and will fall back into the intermittent pattern. It can also be set to spin continuously.
